Expanding the HIV/AIDS Resource Center
SWAASL has a resource center in Freetown, West Africa. The resource center staff provide counseling, medical referrals, and supplies for HIV-positive women and men. SWAASL's organization sees hundreds of women per year at their current resource center; however, SWAASL has a great need to expand their location and their services to the women. As more and more people are tested in Sierra Leone and found to be HIV-positive, the attendance at the center is growing. The current SWAASL Resource Center has reached its capacity.
Rebuild A Nation, Inc. is currently working on an effort to raise money to expand their center; adding computers for research, and providing enough space so that the women will be able to create arts and crafts at the center to be sold in the local communities and villages. This will increase their economic status, allowing many of the women to provide for themselves and their children. |
